Day #7. Office hours.

One of the hardest things for me to do is to keep a regular schedule. As a freelancer, it's almost impossible. Fall always seems like the real start of a new year and so I try to revise how I've been working to make it more efficient.

Last year, one of the most helpful things I did was create a standardized wardrobe for auditions. This past year, I was lucky enough to be incredibly busy working and auditioning but I found that I was getting exhausted easily. I needed to make things easier for myself and I didn't know how to do it. A friend of mine pointed out that I probably go out for the same types of roles often and that I could "automate" my wardrobe. Basically, create uniforms for the types of roles I go out for the most. And then set them aside in my closet and not use those clothes for anyting BUT auditions. I've been doing this for the last 6-7 months and it's been amazing. It's made auditioning a lot easier.

This year, I've decided to attempt an idea I tried in the past. Keeping office hours. I'm doing this so that I know when to STOP working. As a freelancer, you tend to just work all the time. This also lead to me being exhausted because I never really knew when to take a break. So I'm implementing office hours again. 8 hour work days, 5 days a week. The goal is to make the time I'm working intentional and the time that I'm resting focused on relaxing.

Would love to hear other ideas about how to streamline a freelancer's schedule...
