compassion day...<15
I usually end my days by looking at pictures of dogs. It's a little weird I guess, but probably not very. I love dogs - adorable dogs. And generally just all dogs. And well, all animals. Basically I'm a sucker for anything fuzzy and cute.
So, Brad and I have been trying to be more conscious about how much meat we consume. Since I do most of the cooking, I try to limit meat to a couple times a week. For the last 6 months, we've been pretty good about only eating meat 2-3 times a week. I've moved us to eating more fish, eggs and fake meat products. Brad's not a big seafood person - so I haven't been able to substitute in things like mussels, shrimp, etc. I've tried to make more grain type dishes with lots of vegetables.
We also try to be conscious about only ordering vegetarian meals when out. I think the only exception for eating meat these days for us is when someone is serving it at their home when they have us over and it's the only option or when we've been trying to finish up the meat we've had at home in the freezer. Once it's gone, we'll do our best in not repurchasing and replacing it with meat substitutes.
Meal planning can be tricky - especially if you're not planning. Making non meat meals can get very boring...or at least mine can. Here's a really good weekly plan I found that I think would be great to try:
